ARE THESE SHOWS OPEN TO THE PUBLIC?

These performances are private, invitation only events.  To receive an invitation, simply contact us, via the instructions on the RSVP page of this website.  Assuming space is still available, we will send you an invitation, and simply ask that you reply when you are sure you will be attending.  It is possible that some shows will fill to capacity.

WHY ARE THESE EVENTS PRIVATE AND INVITATION ONLY?

We must operate in this manner to be in compliance with the guidelines of Performing Rights Organizations (PROs). The PROs are organizations like ASCAP, BMI, SOCAN and SESAC and ACEMLA that are established to protect the interest of copyright owners.  They are primarily concerned with parties who wish to use copyrighted material in a public manner.  Our private events feature singer-songwriters who perform their own material for which they are the copyright owners and they receive 100% of the revenue resulting from the performance of those songs. So, Songwriter Series has committed to the rules and guidelines of the United States PRO House Concert Agreement of Folk Alliance International, who negotiates with the PROs on our behalf.

HOW DO I GET TO THE VENUE?

Events are held in the Awbrey Park (eastern slope of Awbrey Butte) area of Bend, Oregon.  The address is 3536 NW Mesa Verde Court.  Parking is available along the cross street of NW Haleakala Way, as well as NW Mesa Verde Court.  Please consider our neighbors and do not block entry to their driveways.

WHAT DOES “SUGGESTED DONATION” MEAN?

We are not a business and operate as a non-profit.  All proceeds go directly to the artist.  We are music lovers who enjoy providing an intimate space where like-minded people can hear quality music acts in a comfortable setting… and traveling troubadours can be compensated for performing.  We suggest a donation of $15-$20, but you are free to donate any amount, smaller or larger, to the artist.  I am more than willing to help subsidize a donation, if needed.

IS THERE SEATING FOR ALL GUESTS?

We have a permanent concert venue in our home that normally seats approximately 40 people, but have the ability to bring in more chairs to increase capacity to 55.  Some people do prefer to stand, or hang out in the mini-kitchen… wherever you are most comfortable.

WHAT SHOULD I BRING?

We provide bottled water, soft drinks, some beer and wine… in addition to deli meats, crackers, chips and some deserts. Beyond that, you are welcome to bring anything to add to the pot luck meal and drink spread.  Some folks bring breads, chips, deserts, veggies, etc. Of course you may bring your own beer and wine.  You should also bring a credit card or a little cash, as the artists will be selling (and autographing) their CDs, T-Shirts, and other merchandise.

MAY I TAKE PHOTOGRAPHS?

Yes, you may.  Obviously we prefer that you turn off your flash, so as not to distract the artist during their performance.  If you get some good images, please email them for inclusion on our website.

IS THE ON-LINE GUESTBOOK ONLY FOR PERFORMING ARTISTS?

No… we encourage both artists and attendees to sign the on-line guest book and tell us about your experience.
